Question Wheel bearing replacement on 97 Z28

So my 97 Z just failed inspection... I need to replace the front wheel bearings /assemblies, and I've never done that before. Just hoping somebody can answer a couple of questions for me...

First, I have heard that this is very difficult to do without air tools and a lift. Any truth to that?

And secondly, I've never seen such wildly different pricing on a part I've changed before, and it's making me nervous. My mechanic (who I usually trust implicitly) quoted me at $220 per assembly, and while I am seeing the parts for sale in that range online, every local store seems to have them for like $80 a piece. Is there something I don't understand going on here? Does like ABS or traction control or something factor in here or something?

Why do these range from $60-$220 on Amazon? It is simply a question of quality, or is there something I need to be looking out for on this specific model?

If you can do brakes, it is a piece of cake. Nothing hard about it. A good name brand should keep you from getting burned.

The wheel bearing assembly is a complete spindle, bearings, housing and ABS sensor. It's not just a bearing and a race.

I just replaced the ones on my 98. Very easy, just used a floor jack and a couple of wrenches. Used a long handle on the socket wrench to get the bolts loose.

Too bad your in yankee nation. I would do it in my driveway, not much to it. As said before not much more that a brake job. As far as the prices of parts, you get what you pay for. If you want to do the job again real soon buy the 60 dollar set. If you want to have them last many years then pay for the quality parts.
