to me, the maintainance on the car is more important than the odometer reading...and its usually easy to tell when a car has been maintained. For example, I know a guy who blew up a 35th anniv. camaro exactly a year ago... I doubt the car saw 30k. He just plain beat the s*** out of it.
Mine has been stored winters, and had mobil 1 every 3k, and Ive never had a problem with it since I bought it in june... car had 75k then has almost 78k now. The engine runs and feels like its fresh off the showroom.
sbc's (small block chevy's) are known to last... my 92 truck (5.7 tbi) has 180k and is untouched except for the intake gasket which we just fixed... and that was a common issue on those trucks... doesnt burn oil or anything yet.

When I was shopping for a V8 I went to look at a 99 Z28 6-spd with 39000 miles on it. The dealer forgot to mention they were rebuilding the tranny and the engine. I went to look at it inside and the damn block was sitting next to the car. It all depends on who drove it before you. It comes down to how they treated it and if they did maintainance to help prevent certain things. In some cases I would rather have a fbody with 60k than one with 30k.

i say more than 10K miles per year....
cause obviously, i would rather have an 95 with 50K miles than an 02 with 50k miles (ignoring the fact that it's an lt1 over an ls1)

It does depend on the treatment the car got. However, i had a friend back in high school with an auto 95 Z28 and he beat that car to pieces. I can't remember a day when he wasn't racing it and beating on it. Must've gone through 5 sets of tires. The thing is, the original engine AND TRANNY lasted to well over 150K. I think he had about 180K on it when a blown head gasket took the engine out (overheated, warped the heads, etc). But it never used oil and never skipped a beat through all the abuse. There are a few members on here approaching 200K on the stock engine (LT1s). I can't speak from experience on the LS1s, but the LT1s are pretty damn tough.
FWIW, i bought mine two years ago with 64K miles and just tripped 102K last week. Replaced the opti and WP at 70K along with plugs/wires and fixed intake oil leak.... the car really didn't need anything at the time, just replaced all that stuff as preventative maintenance since i had the time and money. At 91K switched over to the 6-speed, but the auto was still in perfect condition and shifted very tight. Runs great to this day and still hits 27mpg regularly on the highway.
