What media should I use to blast an air cleaner?

I found a used example of the air cleaner base and lid that I need for my project. I'll get the chrome lid replated, but I'd like to tackle the base myself. However, my blast cabinet is currently full of aluminum oxide which is probably way too agressive for that. It leaves a significant profile on the metal.

For general paint removal without damaging the underlying metal, what should I be using?

Eastwood has glass beads in 40/70 grit and 100/150. They offer soda as well, but I don't know if my cabinet/gun can deal with it. But I still need it to completely remove paint and maybe a little surface rust.

Thanks!
Dave
