weird blinker problem

I'v had my 93 ta for a little over a year now and as long as i remember my blinkers have been slow to turn on while the headlights were on. The right one was especially slow to turn on but they were both fine during the day when the headlights were off. my right blinker recently quit on me completely when the headlights are on but it still works fine during the day. I pulled all the bulbs front and back and switched them side to side and nothing changed. as soon as i turn the headlights on, my right blinker goes kaput.

Re: weird blinker problem

what does your voltage meter read when the headlights are on and off?

Re: weird blinker problem

My 93 formula used to have screwy or inop blinkers too. My problem turned out to be most of the wires in sockets in the tail lights were fubar. I could wiggle the wires at the socket and they would flicker and start working for a little bit. I replaced all 4 of the rear sockets for the brake/turn bulbs and it fixed the problem.

Re: weird blinker problem

My front turn signals stay illuminated all the time when i have my park/or headlghts on. i still havent fixed the problem completely, the only thing "rigged" on my car is that i put elec. tape over one of the terminals on the bottom of the bulb and now it only lights up when it should, but they burn out quite frequently. this all happened out of the blue about 2 years ago.

Re: weird blinker problem

i dont think its a voltage problem because its only the right blinker that had the problem and all the bulbs and sockets were ok. a little bit rusty but otherwise functional.

Re: weird blinker problem

well what i am saying is that a lower voltage will cause the flashers to opperate slower than you are used to, it has happened to me when i ran my system for a while and drained the battery and the voltage hovered around 11 V.
