Help! I just bought a 1969 Z28 Camaro and I cant find the oil dipstick. Is it possible that when they did the rebuild they omitted the dipstick? If so, how in the heck am I supposed to check the oil. Can anyone tell me where it is supposed to be> I have a good idea but do not see it anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On the passenger side of the engine, a bit more than half way from the front of the engine, should be the dip stick tube.

I believe for a 302 Z28, the dipstick is on the driver side toward the rear of the head.

Fellas:
No luck. The dip stick is not on the engine. I am trying to contact the individuals that did the re-build. I have no idea how they would omit the dipstick. Also, since the car has a manual transmission there is no transmission dipstick correct? Its been a while since I owned a car with a manual transmission.

Does the car have aftermarket headers? Maybe there isn't room.

No dipstick for a manual transmission.

Ok, I spoke to the mechanic who re-built the engine and he says the dipstick must have fell out. ????? The previous owner sent me an original 302 dipstick. I placed the dipstick in the hole but there is no way to attach it to the engine block. It literally just sits there(the flanged end resting on the engine). Won't the dipstick eventually fall out during driving? Unless you tell me different I was thinking of using some JB Weld to attach it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
