True Duals question...

True Duals question...
I know how people love this set-up. It has never crossed my mind to do something like this, until today.
I found somebody locally who has done true duals install on a few F-Bodies here in Denver.
My current set up is JetHot Longtubes, with y-pipe, !cats, and a Borla Catback.
How do you guys see this? Would I benefit or gain anything by going true duals? Is it worth it? Compared to what I already have.
TIA-Goose

I did ask a few questions about how it would sound, and the guy told me no louder than what I already have. I'm a bit skeptical about that, and he suggested I can put some glasspack to quiet it down. What you guys think of glasspacks and true-dual.

Re: True Duals question...
I like what I hear. Now, speaking of mufflers...
The way I picture a set-up like this, it has to be a single muffler per side, right?
Like a "bullet" style type muffler, no?
Something else I'd like to add. The guy told me that to run the true duals, it will be from the headers collectors -obviously- but the pipe will be 2.5" in diameter. I guess this is because of the lack of room underneath. Would 2.5" pipes affect or negate the benefits of the true duals in any way?

Re: True Duals question...
Well, using 2.5 inch pipe means that the bullets will be a little smaller. That is good because the bullets and turndowns are normally the lowest part of the exhaust. Dual 2.5 inch will, from what i understand, support a little over 500 horse with 0 restriction. If you make more than that, then it would be worth it to go 2.75 or 3. Either way it's up to you, and the small difference in clearance may not be important to you. FWIW, I have a bolt-on car with 2.5 in duals, and wouldn't have anything else.

Re: True Duals question...
for that engine you'll want a full 3" muffler and tubing
and he said he was running a borla...to my knowledge that pretty much means a standard 3" catback...mufflex (or custom) is the only 4" system

Re: True Duals question...
The way my car sounds right now, is hard to beat. However, I see another benefit by going true duals, and that is clearance! My God, my car sucks. My lowest point is the y-pipe, and it hangs about 2" off the ground. Not much. So, by going true duals, my lowest point would be the header collectors, which I don't hit or scrape as much -if any- as I do my y-pipes.

Re: True Duals question...
im running 2 dynomax bullets with 3" piping and i only scrub on huge speed bumps and i just drive around them after the bullets i did 2 90 degree turndowns and it is so freakin loud. but the only thing i have to compair it to is myother z which has a flowmaster on it. so anything is gonna be louder.

Re: True Duals question...
I was actually doing a search on "bullet" style mufflers, and I came up with those dynomax, among others. The guy that actually does the true duals set-up wasn't there on Saturday. His partner was telling me about the good stuff he does. I'm going to stop by to talk to the man himself, and see my options.
