Stupidest Question to ever be posted... about wiper blades
i've been trying to figure out why my wiper blades will NOT conform to my winshield. On the driver side it doesnt clear the water very well like half the wiper is actually touching the windshield. The Passenger side isnt as bad but the whole thing still doesnt touch the windshield.
What Brand/Size are you all using?
And have you had this problem?
i've tried the RainX ones and the Bouch ones and they both dont clear the water in the same places. Could it be because my wiper arms are messed up?

Although most of us would likely be guessing as to the source of your problem - I'll try anyhow..........are you sure you have the correct sizes?
Are you using the plastic arm kind, or the metal arm kind?

it has the plastic arms on it, and i've tried 24's and 22's i think.
I tried what ever Autozone told me to get, then went smaller to see if that would help, nope

Re: Stupidest Question to ever be posted... about wiper blades
The stock arms are metal.........and seem to press harder than plastic.
I've never changed my wiper blades on my Camaro, but my I tried plastic on my Blazer........with little success - they just wouldn't put enough preasure on the glass.
I even bought these spring type things that put additional downward force on them to insure a good wipe. They worked a little better.
In the end I went back to metal arms and I haven't had a problem since.

Did you change just the blades (only the rubber part), or did you change the blade and carrier (metal backing that holds the blade itself)?
If you changed the blade and carrier, I can tell you what is wrong:
A lot of stores list replacements for our cars as 24.
They're not. They're 24R.
What's the R mean? I'd guess it stands for reverse, because the blade and carrier assembly clips on opposite of the normal way (reverse!).
Ask me how I know.
Oh, and by the way. When I bought my assemblies, I bought Anco. At $15 per wiper. And I'm guessing that the F-Body is the ONLY car that uses the 24R, because the package said "For Camaro and Firebird!" or some such.

Take a close look at them where the arm connects and see if it is rubbing.

I had the same problem with my wipers after I changed them. Ended up having to go to a chevy dealer and getting the stock wipes and then changed just the blade on them. Haven't had the problem since.

Re: Stupidest Question to ever be posted... about wiper blades
i'll give this advice..
in my life, i have owned (or currently own) in order of year model,
91 RS (currently)
99 SS G2 (currently)
00 Z28
02 FB formula
and i have had to change wiper blades on all of them.
my advice is, the EXPENSIVE ONES that claim to be awesome never-EVER- fit.. they don't bend and conform to the windshield and always do funky stuff when you try to use them and skip all over the place, and, the rainex ones that are one long blade that they were advertising for a while as being perfect in every way don't work either, they are so long that the center of them doesn't press on the glass..
you pretty much have to go with cheap to average price blades and use liquid rain-x.
Wish i remembered brands and sizes of blades that do work, but i change them so infrequently, it's kind of a research based guess every time i buy them.
just my (probably arguable) $0.02
and yes.. i see this is an old thread.. w/e someone woke it up, so i'll respond
