starting the car up after 5 months of sitting?

I have always wondered about doing just this and the actual benefit as compared to just firing it up. I am not trying to flame or be flamed just trying to understand the difference. I would actually think it would be better to turn it over to fire it up and than you will get maximum oil pressure the quickest. My concern with not running a motor for a long time is of course the dry start up. By turning the engine either to run or like you suggest you are still getting dry rotation.

My car will have been sitting for a total of six months when I go to fire it up, I am just making sure the battery is good and charged (faster start up) and firing her up.
