Security light on but NOT flashing...
Hey guys I have a 1997 Purple Camaro V6. Its not to big of a deal but ever since I have had the car the Check Engine light and the Security light have been on. The Engine light was throwing no codes but it cut off out of no where yesterday and hasn't been back. My question is why would the security light be on constantly? I drive it every day and have no problems with it... I am at a loss on how to get it to go away.

Here's what your Owner's Manual says:
Basically, a component of the system has failed, and the system has turned itself off (fail enable) so that you can still start the engine. Some codes related to the PASS-Key system can be obtained from the body control module (BCM).
With regard to the SES light, how did you try and retrieve the codes? Did you use an OBD-2 code scanner? Did the scanner "connect" to the PCM?
If .....the SECURITY light comes on and stays on, you will be able to restart your engine if you turn it off. Your PASS-Key I1 system, however, is not working properly and must be serviced by your Chevrolet dealer. Your vehicle is not protected by the PASS-Key I1 system.
