Running hot I think. 96 SS
Hello all. My 96 SS six speed is running pretty hot. I have a scanner on it. The guage on the dash reads just under the redline mark and the scanner tool reads 234 before the fans kick on and cool it down to about 219. Then it returns to 234 and so on. This is when the car is just sitting in the garage. About 75 degrees outside. Is this cause for worry? Thanx 4 any help in advance.

Re: Running hot I think. 96 SS
it sounds like your fans aren't working when they are supposed to be commanded on at low speed at 226 degrees, while the high speed fans are supposed to kick on at 235 degrees
your car should have a three fan relays, one is used to achieve slow setting, and both the other ones are used for the high setting, the relay used to control your low setting may not be working.
Can you conclude the fans are working on the slow setting, coming on at 226 degrees? you'll have to physically check since you rarely hear the fans when they're turning slow. If that checks out, another common issue with these cars is debris getting stuck between the radiator and A/C condenser.
