rear defroster not working, light blinks on 96 Bird
I've had a nagging issue for a few years now on my 96 Firebird, when I click the rear defroster button it will light up and then blink for 10 seconds and then just shut off. The defroster doesn't seem to work at all. Anybody see this over the years? maybe a quick fix? If it was a fuse I would think the light wouldn't come on at all. All the connections on the rear hatch seem fine, but the blinking might mean there isn't a complete circuit possibly? Thanks

The defogger circuits normally has a small circuit breaker in the fuse panel, not a fuse. The circuit breaker will reset a minute or two after it trips. Either that is happening to you or the defogger relay/timer is defective. The circuit breaker (30 amps) is available in most auto parts stores in universal-fit format.

I got the 30A breaker at NAPA and swapped out the original unit. I noticed the breaker is for the defroster and the seats and the seats have been working fine, but apparently the breaker feature, shutting off after 2 min was broken. The new breaker did the trick, when I pushed the rear defrost, the light came on and stayed. Thanks for recommending a quick easy fix!
