Forgive my manual transmission n00bness but i was racing tonight and i accelerated at WOT through 1st & 2nd, went to goto 3rd and i hit 1st some how. Engine hit the rev limiter a couple times and i shifted back to neutral. Any damage done? I drove home with radio off and everything sounded normal.
thanks

If it is idling smoothly, you are probably ok. If not, pushrods are usually the first casualty (bent).
The rev limiter will not help you in a mechanical over-rev situation like that.

You got lucky. Last car I was in that did that was my friend's shelby GLHS charger. It exploded the clutch so hard it broke the transaxle case into several pieces. I was watching the tach from the backseat, and it pegged in a millisecond, followed by what sounded like a bucket full of gravel thrown at the firewall. Oops.

LOL, was on my way back from kings dominion one day in my ole' red WS6 and went 3-2 at WOT and damn did it peg like hell! Idle came back down, and shut off. Car wouldn't start at first try, and then the second try it started. Was cruising in neutral on the interstate, threw it back in 3rd, went through the gears, everything was ok.
Couple weeks ago was in my firehawk, did the same thing, 3-2, but this LS1 didn't shut off Everything was still, yet, ok as usual
