Quick Question about Hood Insulator.
Hey guys just wondering if any of you have removed your underhood inslulators. The one on my car looks terrible and i was thinking about pulling it off for the time being and then putting on a new one when some disposable income became more abundandt.
Any problems with getting the hood too hot?
Thanks for the replies,
T.C.

Re: Quick Question about Hood Insulator.
had mine off for 2 months and already drove the car in 90º weather. no effect other than it looks better. I believe it's there for sound deadening as it would burn from being fuel soaked in a fire. The ram-air models didn't come from the factory with it...

Re: Quick Question about Hood Insulator.
It is there strictly for sound deadening. Remove it and be happy. It is not intended to protect the paint from engine heat.
As far as fire goes... It is actually a fire hazard because it gets soaked over the years in oil and grime, then becomes flamable.

Re: Quick Question about Hood Insulator.
The SS and WS6 hoods leave the factory with no insulation. My SLP hood has been on the car for 6 years now with no insulation and no paint problems.

Re: Quick Question about Hood Insulator.
The previous owner took it off the car for weight reduction purposes. It hasn't had any adverse effects on the car. Its probably there just to dampen underhood noise from the engine, but with a cold air intake and a open cutout, it doesn't really matter at this point.
