Questions on electric exhaust cutout..

I was thinking that this may be the best way to go. I can have a stock exhaust, or a free flowing exhaust at the flick of a switch.

What are the pros and cons? I heard someone say that it my burn up your valves. Any truth to that? How is the sound? Is it raspy sounding, or good?

Where would it mount if I haave a stock exhaust? At the Y-pipe? Right after the cats? Would I have to cut a section of exhaust out, and weld it in? Who makes the best unit for stock exhaust cars?

Any help/info/leads would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thansk
Jeff

Since this is a common question, I'm just going to hit the highlights.

Mount it in the I-Pipe, just before it goes over the rear axle. There's a pocket under the passenger rear seat that the cutout will tuck into quite nicely.

Personally, I think it sounds great and leave mine open all the time unless I'm on a long trip. It drones aroun 2,000 RPM, which is 80 MPH for me.

Burn up the valves? Heard of it, but have never seen it firsthand. No problems from anyone in our club.

I've got mine wired to a convert. top switch so it looks stock. Nothing appears out of the ordinary inside the car.

Thanks for the reply. What model/brand do you use? And who usually has the best prices?

Thanks!

I ordered a new motor for it the said it be shipped right away after a week i called to get no answer no call back any way took a month of lies to get the motor and it is the wrong motor I am going to have to cut and grind to make it work becase i dont want anything else to do with him mccord suck. other might have been happy with it but if you ask around you will find lots who are not.

DMH Performance

They're who's product I have. 4-year warranty. My motor was frozen when I got mine, sent it back, replaced asap. I've had no problems with mine (that I haven't caused). Do a search for DMH, you'll find plenty of praise for them.

DO NOT GO WITH MCCORD ELECTRIC OPENERS! They lied about shipping time, and I got my opener about 1 month after they said it would be here!

love my DMH... by far the best $230 (total) ive spent on my car.

only downside i can see to it is that if you leave it open all the time, you might notice it rattling your interior... and developing some squeaks. You WILL turn some heads with it though... it definetly sounds awesome oh, and nothing is a cool as going into stealth mode upon spotting a cop.

my car with it open

(oh, and the video does not do it justice )
pics are in the sig too
