Proud New Z28 Owner-What to do?

Hello everyone I am the proud new owner of a 1995 Z28 Camaro. I would like to breath some life into it. I traded my 2000 Durango 5.9 for this car and am very excited to tinker with it. First I want to give it a FULL tune up. I would like to start off by doing the basics. I would like to know what type of transmission fluid I should use( Its an automatic) and diff fluid I should use. Also is there a right up on how to do these two things? They seem pretty straightforward but I would like a little reference. Also, what types of sparkplugs to use? Any right up on this also? Sorry for all the questions...Please let me know if there is anything else I should do I left out. Anything in particular to look out for or do on these cars? Thanks a bunch and I look forward to meeting/ hearing other Z28 owners. Thanks!
-Dominic

tune up: use ACdelco platinum tips
will probably take you all day if you've never done it on this car before. you'll have to remove the alternator and have small hands for spark plugs.

wires are pretty easy, use the stock routing and try to use the old harnesses..

opti-spark has tons of write ups, do a search.

tranny:
use dexron III or IV. I used synthetic.

procedure for changing tranny oil:

1). drop tranny pan

2). remove gasket by scraping

3). remove filter

4). install new filter/seal

5). new gasket on, tighten pan to 11lb ft tq

6). pour SAME AMOUNT THAT CAME OUT back in. most of the fluid doesn't come out unless you flush the tranny. measure the old fluid and put that amount back in.

Differential:
75w-90 or 80w-90 with limited slip additive.

1). remove bolts from diff cover

2). let fluid drain

3). install new gasket with new or old diff cover.

4). unscrew the filler bolt and put fluid in until it comes out the hole. means its full.

things to look out for: blown head gasket, intake manifold leak, engine leaks in general, water pump leaks and opti failure.

hope this helps.

Thanks for your help its VERY appreciated! Looking forward to givin her the attention she needs. One question however...Is the limited slip additive necessary? How do I know if my car has a LSD?

you have a LSD. In some gear oils they already have LSD additive included, just read the label.

p.s. DO NOT use a rubber gasket for the transmission. in my own experience it develops leaks quickly.

oh and all LSD equipped cars need the LSD additive. You will experience all sorts of problems without it.

All V8 4th Gens left the factory with a limited slip differential. Look for RPO code G80 on the service parts label in you glove box. The LSD additive is specified by GM for all clutch type limited slip units. You'll get a lot of chatter without it.

Ok I got cool. One more thing I notice that after the car sits awhile it only starts when I press on the gas. But after I start it, turn it off, it starts up fine. Any ideas?

Turn the key to on, without starting the engine. Measure the fuel pressure, maximum value when the pump shuts off after the 2-second prime - should be bout 40pis. Then watch how fast it falls off. If pressure drops rapidly, there could be a problem with the check valve in the fuel pump, the fuel pressure regulator or leaking injectors. Cycle the key several times before you start it, and see if it starts quicker.

It that doesn't work, put the accel pedal on the floor and hold it there until the engine starts. If it starts quicker, it's usually a sign of leaking injectors. Holding the pedal on the floor puts the PCM in "clear flood" mode.

the seal connects the filter to the transmission. you need to buy one or but a transmission oil change kit (like $12).
