pennsylvania illegal hood scoops???

I found some great hood scoops I'd like to buy and put on my car, but I want to make sure they'll be legal here in Pennsylvania. Can anyone tell me what would be illegal to use? I dont want to waste my money on something i cant use.

Thanks

As far as I know they don't have any laws regarding hood sccops as long as it dosn't obstruct your vision to a certain point. They'll pry say it can't be like more than 4 inches tall or whatever.

depends on the cop really. i know of a few people with hood scoops. some have got away with 5 inches high and others got tickets for 3 inches high. probably also has a lot to do with your attitude towards the cop. if your nice about it he'll probably let you go

2 and a half inches is all you are allowed. Unless you have an R titled car. Then I believe its 4'.

its a car that has been torn up bad enough for the insurance to give it a Reconstructed title. A car that has been rebuilt after a nasty acident.

the R stands for reconstructed. if a vehicle is totaled or such its required here. its a major pita to go through. it also cuts the vehicles value in half

Ok that makes sense. Now why would they allow a 4 inch on a R titled car and a 2 and a half on non-R titled cars

Sounds like typical government to me

because PA laws suck ***! This state is known for stupid stuff like that. I'm a machanic and I'm license to inspect. You wouldnt believe some of the laws they are tying to pass here. Laws like you have to keep the factory wheel and tire size on your car. Its not passed yet, but they are tying.

the emission laws are a money making scheme for the goverment. All they do is give a visual inspection. Does'nt matter if it works, it just has to have oem emissions equipment on the car. This is all I say because I don't want to get started on this kinda stuff. It angers me to no end!

I guess thats good news for me on the hood scoop....my car has a reconstructed title cause the front end was smashed bad, but its got everything replaced now. So it looks like I'll try to get a 4 inch cowl hood. Thanks guys.
