I have 95 z28 camaro lt1. It keeps overheating it got out of the shop the mechanics said the car was fine, it wasnt. I was driving down the highway and it was doing fine I pulled off to a stop light and it started getting hot like 260 hot. Anyone have any ideas? its had a new temp sensor a new water pump a new fans and honestly im stumped.

Try bleeding the coolant system via the bleeder screws. You might have air in the system.

Were the fans running at 260 degrees?

the fans were supposed to be i was driving so i couldnt tell. Ive bleed the system already aswell

To clarify - did you take it to the shop because it was overheating? Did the shop replace the parts you mentioned, then indicate it was operating OK when you picked it up? Have you asked the shop why it's still overheating?

Is the SES light on? Has it been scanned for codes? Is that why they replaced the coolant temp sensor?

What procedure did you use to bleed the air out of the system?

yes i did. yes they did replace the parts mentioned and they said it was running perfect. Theyre not open yet all they said was that lt1 were designed to run hot. Im pretty sure its not supposed to be at the 260 line. it was raised on a lift and bleed from the upper radiator hose being pulled out and the bleeders.

Stuck thermostat or they put in a sbc thermostat instead of the one for a lt1? Try grab the upper radiator hose when it's running hot. You should feel the coolant running. If not my guess is thermostat.

Mine hardly runs over 190 with electric water pump and 160 thermostat. However, it did run close to red when the original radiator was clogged or going bad.
