Re: overflow tube ?

Are you sure it's the metal tube that's leaking? If the hose had a crack, the coolant might run down the outside of the hose and puddle under the battery.

Re: overflow tube ?

You will have air in the radiator whether the rubber hose is cracked, or the metal tube is cracked. Same with the puddle under the battery - either could cause it. A lot easier to check the hose than to be looking for the metal tube, which may or may not solve the problem.

I don't know if you can buy a new metal tube, or whether you have to buy a complete battery tray/reservoir assembly.

Re: overflow tube ?

If it is the hose that is bad, you can replace the hose with a length of vacuum rated (will not collapse under vacuum) rubber hose, of the correct diameter, available at most auto parts stores. Take the old one with you so they can help you match it up.
