oil gauge at 80

Hi everyone. for a while when I start my car the oil change light comes on and will go off as soon as I get down the block, but lately the oil gauge has been jumping to 80 and will sometimes bounce back down a line and then back up to 80

Re: oil gauge at 80

On an LT1 car, if the gauge is pegged, then the lead to the sensor is open or the sensor is probably bad. Not sure if the LS1 variety acts the same. If the gauge goes to zero when you ground the end of the lead, then it acts like the LT1 circuit and that should mean it is ok.
