newbie needs help please

Need some help guys. I spun a few bearings in the 96 bird in november so I'm in the process of rebuilding it and figured while I have it apart I would make a few mods. Here there are........ Jet hot headers, cc306,home made ram air,! A.I.R.,!egr,hooker cat-back,pcmforless,taylor wires, ported heads,160 thermo, and all the free mods and a few I'm sure I'm forgetting. Anyways, the main question I have is, for the set-up I have the Machinist doing my heads said if I go with the 1.6 roller rockers I would have more lift but I would LOSE torque, is this true? And also, any advice on the reinstall would be appreciated(I will get engine back from machine shop in a week or two). Thank you.

Torque loss is possible, I guess, higher lift= more power higher up, possible power loss down low. I'd get them anyway.

But I would suggest some head porting and polishing for that 306 of yours- it would probably run a lot better with better flow #s.

Yea, all its doing is moving the Torque range around. You might gain a lil but your torque peak will be like 500 rpms higher err somthin...

it will indeed mess with torque. like said before, just move it around, but I don't think the added lift is the whole cause of that. When you change the Rocker ratio it also effects the duration of the cam, not by much, but still a few degrees. that will effect the peak torque range, to be about 500 rpm higher, as said before. Good luck sounds like you'll have a good runnin car after all is said and done.
