Question My 84 build sheet has 43 RPO numbers that arn't listed

I've just got this car and think it might be a Z28. It has the 305 4bblm HD suspension, HD cooling and rear disks. there are also 43 other things I haven't found where to look up.
any suggestions?
I'm of the impression that there isn't a unique number that signifys it IS a z28, Is this so??
It's number is: 1g1ap87h7elxxxxxx
Thanks;
Roar

Re: My 84 build sheet has 43 RPO numbers that arn't listed

The non-technical approach:

If the car never had Z28 ground effects (all 1984 Z28s came with them), then it's not a Z28. Are there horizontal metal bars welded to the rocker panels and bolt holes in the lower quarter panels? If not, then I highly doubt that it's a Z28. It would be a PITA to remove that stuff.

The early third gen Z28 was mostly an appearance package available for the V8: leather steering wheel/shift/ebrake, ground effects, and alloy wheels. Most Z28 performance options could also be ordered on the base coupe.

Exclamation Re: My 84 build sheet has 43 RPO numbers that arn't listed

Hi Guys; I went there and downloaded the specs. I found that I have a commercial body, chassis, cab- YE4 and a fleet program repurchase- YT1 and both a 78 and 115 amp generator- K64--sounds like it was a cop car =<)
Interestingly the car was intended for abu dabi- E6N and had(s) a LP shutoff-WU1 and somehow had a fleet incentive-GA4 and something about an echo star dish??!-GA2 This probably was carried by the 12,000 or the 14,000Kg dual speed R/E- FA1 and FA2 requiring a computer selected suspension setup 7KR, 8PK and 9PK
This car looks like a normal Plain Jane Camaro, hiding all this special stuff so it probably was a secret service car or perhaps with the giant R/E's used for drug smuggling =<)
cheers;

In 84 few of these option were standard on the Z28, like the HD cooling, 4 wheel disc, or HD bat. & alt., but could be ordered from the list.
Definitely sounds like an Gov. export car. Did it have the fully adjustable (Recaro) type seats?

Single or dual snorkle air cleaner?

Check the Y-pipe and catylitic converter. If it's a four bolt flange, and oval pipe to the cat, then it's got the 305 H.O. engine package. Otherwise, it's an LG4. The seventh digit on the VIN specifies the engine, actually."H" is the key. I only have Pontiac memorized for 1984, not Camaro unfortunately.

Look for GT4 on the RPO axle code listings: 3.73 limited slip differential. It should have either the 3.42 or the 3.73 if it's an H.O. equipped car.

Re: My 84 build sheet has 43 RPO numbers that arn't listed

Verrry interesting! I have the H in my number, have to check under the car for the cat bolts, The car DOES have a much bigger dual outlet but stock looking muffler, and everything for the IROC but the rear spoiler. I don't see the IROC listed as manditorily having the side skirts.The car also has four wheel disks and and the Z28 only 15X7 alloys AND the RPO 1AY perhaps indicating that the dealer installed all this on a 'regular' camaro or special ordered one without the appearance options-- BTW anyone shed some light on the YT9 or WU1??
Where do I look for other tags that might shed light on this?
Thanks ALL!

FYI, you do know there were NO IROC's in 1984.

Re: My 84 build sheet has 43 RPO numbers that arn't listed

Hi guys; parting that 84 and an 87 so if anyone needs anything, get back to eeemcee@cs.com,
On the 20th, My lien sale will be done for very original Z-28 5.0 Ho, 5 speed. It was owned by a gal that treated it nicely but polished the paint through several places so I need to repaint it.

I'll pull the rear disk axle from the 84 and put it in just so the car has all the good bits.
Will that swap be any problem? the spedo ratio may become wrong so that may need changing.
