My guess is the ignition switch, since one section controls the injector and pcm circuits both. It seems unusual to have 18 and 36 at the same time otherwise. Try putting a jumper wire from battery positive to the top of fuse 9 (7.5A), 10 (7.5A), or 11 (10A) in the underhood fuse box while cranking.

The ignition switch at the bottom on the steering column. Just a guess though. Did you try the jumper?

It's looking more and more like a heat soaking failure of either the opti or the icm the guy I got it from said he put a new icm and coil on it maybe he diddnt use enuf grease or he used some kinda grease that doesn't hold up good probly only about 160 miles on the icm and this is what it was doing before he replaced the coil and icm this is the first trip it has been on and it was realy hot the day I came up here

no it was 36 and 18 just double checked i did notice when i crank it when it doesnt start the oil pressure is at 0 and it says check gauges now i can crank on it for a few seconds and the pressure shoots up im thinking oil pressure switch ? doesnt that controle spark and spray if it doesnt have any oil pressure that would explain the codes were is the oil pressure switch and will a 97 silverado switch work?

The oil pressure has nothing to do with a non-starting condition. Only on older Camaros and Firebirds was that the case.
If the distributor was outputting very erratic and high frequency "noise" on the low res line, that could cause the code 36 and the non-starting condition. I don't know if that could cause the code 18 though.

It doesn't stop the pump to "save the engine". It stops because, until the engine starts, it isn't needed to run.

It's normal for the pump to prime for two seconds, then shut down. The pump only starts again when the PCM gets the cam position signals from the Opti, while the starter is cranking the engine.
