when i get it smogged they dont even look at the cats they just hook it up and test it. but my boss just told me they passed a new law and any non stock exhaust is illegal. they shops wont pass it cuz it doesnt make it past the visual test. even tho the emmissions are the same. but either way im doing it.

since you are going to have cats, the magnaflow setup might be a little on the quiet side, if your into the chambered muffler sound i highly recommend the hooker aerochamber catback, i had it on my car before the did LT's and ORY and it was fairly quiet at idle but would really make some noise when you open it up.

im definaltly having catback setup. i dont like the muffled sound. like you hear on the stock exhaust on the lt1's.. i think it sounds like crap when reved up.. to much restriction i think. its gonna take me a month to save for this so i have a min to make my decision. and im gettin alot of good feed back on here. hopefully i make the right decision

I pushed 800HP through a Mufflex 4" catback with a FlowMaster race series single-out muffler, buddy of mine ran 1,125HP with same setup. Neither of us saw any measureable increase in HP when we eventually pulled the Mufflex catback and went to Borla XR1's on the header collectors (weight reductiion). My Flowaster was 5 years old when I removed it and it looked like new - no rust. Not all FlowMaster products are bad.

my car had flowmaster on it when I got it, at idle and low rpms, it sounded good, but when I ran it out, it sounded horrible, and also the drone it had on a highway trip. When I put the longtubes on I also changed to the magnaflow, and I love it. Nice good sound from idle on up, and no more drone.

I have had both on my 95Z. It had a Flowmaster system on it when I got the car and I was happy with the sound. It was running stock manifolds and stock cat. After owning the car for 6 years, the Flowmaster system did rust out. As I was happy with the sound of the Flowmaster system on the Camaro, I planned on going back with another one. That is until I heard a Firebird modified much like my Camaro except it had a Magnaflow system. After that, I was sold. I'm much happier with the fit and the sound of the Magnaflow system. Of course, the extra performance was nice too.
The only issue I had when replacing a Flowmaster system with the Magnaflow, was the fact that with the Magnaflow, you have to re-use your stock hangers and you discard them when you install the Flowmaster system.
Go Magnaflow or if you want it really loud, SLP Loudmouth.

I had to take it off coz my better half hates it but why is your's in a pile of scrap? Flowmasters are also cheap and that's one good reason on it's durability.
