Lt1 Formula vs. Lt1 Corvette
I have a buddy who has a 95 Corvette Lt1. He has been wanting to race for a $100. I told him I'd rather do it for fun, but he thinks he will win and wants to win some money as well.
The Corvette is pretty much stock, it might have a few things like TB coolant bypass and an airfoil. The Intake and exhaust are stock. Stock gears and it's an automatic.
My 94 Formula is a M6. It has Ram air with smooth bellows K&N and TB airfoil, SLP Firehawk Dual/Dual catback exhaust, Magnaflow cat, Hurst Short Throw Shifter + TNA Short Stick, and TB bypass. Stock 3.42 gears.
Any thoughts on what the outcome of the race would be?

If he is bone stock and has the standard 2.59 rear ratio its close enough to be a drivers race..
Now if he's changed the rear gears its a different story. (some C4 folks have hit 12s bone stock with only a D44 swap "D44 is what came in M6 cars most had 3.45s)

if you toss in the 4.10's you should take him pretty easily provided you can hook. What tires do you run?
When you put in a gear you need to re tune the PCM for the speedo, etc. So you still should end up getting a tune, which will also provide 10-12HP.

We would race from a dig, would probably go to about 110mph... That's as far as my speedo goes anyway!
The tires I have on the car now are 245/50/16.
Would these tires provide adequate traction with 4.10s?
Would 275/40/17 tires make a huge difference?

buy some drag radials.BUT DONT TELL YOUR FRIEND.Then i know you will win!!!

I agree, get some sticky tires and install those 4.10s. Keep in mind that gears need a break-in period.
With two cars this closely matched, traction and gearing are what will win going from a dig. Whoever has a few more hp isn't even going to matter.
