Lost Door Key...Will Dealership Need Lock Cylinder to Cut New Key?
The project 2000 Z28 I just bought only came with an ignition key. No key fob, no door or trunk key. I need to have a new key made, as I'm tired of opening the hatch by folding down the rear seat and using a long screwdriver.
Will the local GM dealership be able to do anything? I thought about taking one of the door lock cylinders out and taking it to them, or maybe taking the cylinder to a locksmith. I'd love to have a replacement GM key, though, instead of some off the shelf replacement.
Any ideas on whether a Chevrolet dealership would be able to help?

Any Chevrolet dealership will be able to make you a new key based off of your vin number. Just write it down, take that and proof of ownership( registration) and you're good to go
