I have Solved the Power Window Issue :)

It's been awhile since I've been in here and I figured I'd give out some info instead of asking a question. So here goes, I think EVERY camaro owner I know has at one time or another had problems with their power windows (motors, tracks, slowness, etc.) well I finally got fed up and went to the dealer and ordered EVERY part inside the door! Replaces and adjusted, worked fine for a year, and then it just got slower and slower until I had to pull on my windows to get them to go up. Well yesterday I was changing the speakers in my 2003 avalanche when I noticed that GM has Door modules in each door and has relays that control window motion now, and the run a heavy gauge wire to the motors, so I designed a similar circuit for my 96 and ran a #8 Positive and Negative to the relays and had the switch control the relays. The windows work freakin great now and even with the car off the are fast, just like when the car was new I will post in a few mins the schematic, but the cost is around 20 bucks so it KILLS buying new motors every 6 months. So pin this up as aonther GM design Flaw

Interesting.
I'd like to see that schematic Joe, along with any part numbers for relays etc..

I don't understand the coil notation on the relays...

Also, could someone make note of which terminals the wires go to?

Thumbs up

What is difference between it and:
http://shbox.com/1/pwr_window_schematic.jpg
they look like similar to me, except a fact that all circuits, that are feeding motors are now local, and this excludes resistance of thin wires and/or bad contacts of window switches. It will probably help in many cases and prolong a life of motors - motors can actually fail due to spikes of current of bad connections. Sounds reasonable upgrade for me. Thanks

Standard automotive relay.

The drawing is a little confusing as it looks like it is drawn with the relay operated, but it is actually at rest (at least they way I understand it working). I guess it was drawn that way for ease of showing the wires without crossing them. Terminal numbers drawn on the side might relieve some confusion.

Do you happen to have pictures of how everything looked installed?

Man, if this turns out to be a fix for this long time problem maybe we should sticky this thread.

I fired it off in Paint really quickly the relays are the same as the ones under your hood that control the AIR Pump, The Grey Boxes are the relays if you look on the side of the relay itself you'll see the same picture (I wrote Coil where there is a picture of the coil) but this is ADDED to your system, the NC or Normally closed position has to go to ground so when the up relay is energized, the the down Completes the ground circuit. drove around all day VERY happy that my windows Work
