How much should I ask for my 96 SS?
Well Ive decided to sell the Camaro. I'd like to see what some of you think it's worth. It's a 1996 Camaro SS M6 Car# 120. The good...Brand new Weld Draglites in Brand new Mickey Thompson Radial drags. Brand new GM Opti Brand new GM water pump. Brand new Clarion deck, Brand new Memphis audio speakers, Brand new 3.73 with brand new aftermarket Diff cover. Brand new slotted rotors and new pads. Brand new Momo Devil steering wheel, Brand new pace setter long tubes with a y pipe and new Flowmaster duals. New MSD coil and wires, NGK plugs, 160 thermostat with PCM tuned, Moroso cai. interior is in great shape besided a scuff here and there in the rear cargo area. The bad... doesn't like to shift to 2nd very easily, paint is not pretty. the new front bumper is brand new GM black paint, rest of car is faded and passenger side has minor dent and some paint missing on rear quarter. The car was one of the few basic SS cars with no power windows or leather but it has ac tilt. Windsheild has a very small crack at top corner. miles are 135xxx Anyhow what do you think i could get for er.

You could get so much more if you fixed the exterior and the shifting issue. True ss cars are more than the z28's and so I would say $5-$8 if you have the car painted. You don't need to go high quality or anything and you might get twice as much as the paint job costs in your sale. They do complete paint for my dealership for only $300, but look like crap mostly. I bet $500-$1000 paint job would look real sharp and if you have a friend or someone you know you can get a good deal. New windshield I install for around $175.00. If the car looks good, you will draw a lot of attention. If it looks bad, buyers will only be looking to steal the car and do what you should have done. Your engine and other mods look good to a lot of people who want them but don't know how to do them.

I probably have it way to easy. The guys at our body shop repainted the front half of my car for $250 and said the entire car would be $1000. This job really has its perks. Find a painter who will do it on the side and you do the prep work is the cheapest way.

Maybe its just where I live, but the guy at work that paints and does body work on the side said $1000 will get you a pretty decent paint job. I am sure the price varies all over the place, just like what you can get for a 96 SS. Basically, selling a car with all those obvious exterior issues makes the car very hard to get good money for.

A good shop usually charge around $3000-$5000 for a "paint job" as nearly 85% of the working hours is in prep and not in paint.
