Forgot to mention my mechanic drives a teal 94 Z28 with 423,000 miles 
Claims the only things replaced have been 1 opti and 1 water pump.

The guy might be bsing in that he only replaced the water pump and opti, but that car does have 423,000 miles on it. I rode with him and it ran suprisingly well, and the auto tranny shifted great.(I think that might have been rebuilt though). Claims he raced some guy in a Mustang on the interstate and totally kicked his butt.
