Hello all, thinking about purchasing an older (late 80's or early 90's) sports car to re-live my younger days and looking for advice.

How much would I need to pay for a good Z28 from that era and how expensive are they to work on? My other thought was a 5.0 mustang, I know they are pretty cheap to have work done but not as powerful stock vs stock as a Z28? Note I will need to pay a mechanic to do anything, I severely lack that ability

I am looking at a 1994 Z28 which looks very nice but has 200,000 miles (seller claims are mostly highway), for about $2,100.00, is that way too many miles? How much would I realistically need to put into it to get it up to snuff (before starting on any performance upgrades)?

If that one is no good, what year / mileage should I be looking for and what should I expect to pay?

Just my opinion.....I have 2 95 lt1 cars, and I love them! When I first bought my TA I knew nothing about these cars. I didn't know about the optispark issues. But I will say that since owning it and fixing everything myself, theres not a day that goes by that I don't love driving them.

I an not skilled like many of the people on this site, but if I could do the work on them than I believe anyone with any type of mechanical ability could do it. I have rebuilt the transmission and engine myself.

I don't think you would be disappointed. I would go trans am though!

Unless you have deep pockets,run away from this.Many older folks are trading in their camaros and birds for honda's.So you can find some great deals on these cars with less than 100000's on them.Do a search on autotradr and car search.com.Hope this helps.My02.
