Head lights and High beams

Well I have a random problem with my head lights and high beams. High beams nor my headlight are coming on, on my way home I started to smell burning plastic (enough to burn my eyes and nose) and my heads lights went out, all my other lights work with no problem . I have tested with a test light and the lights are not getting power put I have power at the switch. My question is how do I test or know if switch is burned or if I have a short in the lead ? Thanks in advance

Re: Head lights and High beams

Does the headlight switch have power both in (red wire/pin J) and out (yellow wire/pin E), in the on position?

If you have power on the out side of the switch, there is nothing but yellow wire between the switch and the headlights. Check for 12V at the yellow wire at the low beam headlights. If no power, wire is open. Measure resistance of the yellow wire between the switch and the headlight to verify.

Re: Head lights and High beams

P100 is a sheet metal pass through with a grommet.

Grounds are "G"

Connectors are "C"

Splices are "S"

Note that there is a connector C200D between the light switch and G100.

The headlight grounds are at the bottom of the diagram G105 and G106. The symbol means they are chassis grounds.
