Fuel gauge not readin right

My gas gauge on my 95 z28 reads past full when it gets down to half a tank
tank is really empty wondering if anybody had had this same problem and how to fix it

Does the gauge EVER read less than "past full"?

Its normal for the gauge to read past full until 3 or 4 gallons are used, then to gradually drop to "1/2" when approx 10 gallons have been used and only 5 gallons are left. If your tank is empty, and the gauge never moves off of being above the "F" level, the level sending unit in the tanks is faulty, or the wiring from the tank to the gauge is damaged.
