Firehawk

What makes a firehawk a firehawk? i know it has an LS1 but is there anything else that sets it apart from a TA other than the name?

It's an SLP car. They take a Formula or a TA, change the hood/spoiler/wheels/suspension and give you the option for additional perfromance upgrades & accessories. They did the same for the SS, but they just kept the same name. GM would build the base model SS...then give you the option to send it to SLP and get the extras.

SS cars left GM as Z28's for conversion by SLP. They began to offer many of the Firehawk options on the SS besides the base SS package. WS-6 cars from 98-02 were done by ASC.

Wrong, '96-'97 the SS cars left GM as Z28's and went to SLP for the conversion. For '98-'02 GM took the SS in house and they only got sent to SLP for the extra Y2Y options.

the first firehawks were thirdgens and formulas only. you could get an LT1 firehawk as well. if im not mistaken they too were only formulas. the firehawk TAs were LS1 cars. cool cars

The rating in power is there, but the power is almost identical to A WS6 that has a lesser rating.

I didnt think the firehawk had ram air? It looks like a stock TA hood to me, not like the ws6 hood.

The scoop is different, SLP manufactures the hoods not GM. The stock hood doesn't have the scoop on it, just the nose does. And no a 01 Firehawk engine would not be any different then an 02 Z28 engine. All a Firehawk is, is an option package, you get different wheels, hood, decals and then you get to option for suspension, differential etc.
