disable the factory alarm 96 z28

Hello, I installed a new car alarm in my car and every now and again my car alarm will go off due to the negative pulse my after market alarm sends to the door trigger to bypass the r.a.p which in turn does not allow my to unlock my door with the alarm fob. Long story short I need to disable the factory alarm system. Any advice would be greatful. Thank you in advance.

If I recall, Shoebox's website has pdf versions of the owners manuals. My '96 manual does have a section on various options for the alarm. You would have to access them through cycling the key, removing fuses to enter programming mode, and hitting various switches in certain sequences. I don't remember if it can be turned completely off.....

Re: disable the factory alarm 96 z28

Ok, Well the alarm I bought, is a thousand times better than the factory alarm they had back in 96. The reason I upgraded is because I watched a friend of mine hot wired his Camaro because he lost the keys. It took only a few minutes. The vats bypass is a joke now that they sell on ebay little boxes that plug into the system and you just dial in 1 through 15 until the security light goes of. Plus the features of the new alarm make it worth the hassel of trying to figure this out. I know b franker puts alarms in these cars and has a great tutorial but nothing about the factory alarm. My stock alarm would go off when nothing was touching the car and wouldn't go off when I saw the neighbor kids climbing on my car. So I am kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. I have the after market alarm installed and it works beautifully. It's a viper pke with push start and window roll up module plus it turns my smart phone into a two way remote that lets me know if someone is messing with my car. Someone said that it can be disabled through the pcm. I don't know if this is true but I do have access to the tech 2 and just put a new pcm in the car and updated to the latest rom for it. Oh and the latest rom for these cars includes a "sonic boom elimination at 55mph" so if that interest anyone. I actually preferred the noise the exhaust made at 55.
