Re: descreen or not to descreen..

The thread starter's screen name is "fokwolfe95", so without any other info, I think everyone assumed 4th-gen.

Still in the vein of this thread.... I'd like to hear some opinions on just what sort of a horsepower level you'd be at when the stock, untouched MAF becomes a restriction. (4th gen) Or, maybe, what power levels have people reached with the stock MAF in place?

I agree that modifying the MAF or replacing with an aftermarket piece is not a great idea for 4th gens. But there must be a point where the stock MAF just won't flow enough. Is that when people start using other computer systems?

Re: descreen or not to descreen..

I've also heard that the oil from aftermarket air filters hurts the sensing unit...

Re: descreen or not to descreen..

I've got mine de-screened. Been that way for almost 5 years now. Didn't notice any gain or ill effects for that matter.

And yes if you're overzealous with the oik it will get in the sensing unit. What I do is have a can of computer parts cleaner. Make sure it says LEAVES NO RESIDUE on the can. And with a Q-tip LIGHTLY clean the oil off the sensors. I can't stress the lightly part enough. Don't ask me how I know..
