coolant disappearing, trans issues

As the title states, I am having a few problems. My coolant is disappearing at an alarming rate, with seemingly no leak. It got really hot last week cause a line to my water pump blew, but I've fixed it since. Hope I haven't damaged the heads? Also my trans is getting so hot I can feel it inside, especially through the parking brake lever hole.. Ever since I noticed the heat, I also noticed that I can't coast in 4th gear (a4 auto). When I let off the accelerator its like leaving the clutch in on a stick, the RPMs stay high. Any suggestions?

Did you check the Trans fluid for coolant in it? After the hose blew did you make sure the coolant system was properly filled, no air in it?

Re: coolant disappearing, trans issues

Always difficult to help when there is no information on the specific year/model car we are dealing with.

Assuming you have a 94 or newer with the electronically controlled 4L60E, scan the PCM for codes. There are codes for the transmission, but they don't turn on the SES light, so you don't know they are there unless you scan.

For future reference, you need to add a "Signature" with basic info about your car - year, model, engine, trans and any major mods. Helps us help you.

Left click on "User CP" on the red task bar at the top of any page. Left click on "Edit Signature" in the drop down. Enter the information in the screen that appears and save it.
