Question this common with 10 bolts ???

To get a little bit of metal in with the gear oil when doing fluid changes???

how much do you have in there? From what I have heard it is fairly common on 10 bolts.

it was literally 4-5-6 little pieces maybe the size of bb's not even...

Was it like very fine metal shavings (like what you find on the engine oil pan drain plug), or actual "chunks" of metal the size of BB's?? Fine metal shavings are normal, and may even appear almost like a solid piece if it's collected together for awhile, but if you got actual metal chunks, you may want to take a closer inspection and make sure there aren't any broken or chipped gear teeth inside.

only superfine shavings in mine... but I do the axle at least yearly, and run semi syn gear oil...

bb size... not so good, really gotta find out where that metal came from...

Not good.

maybe a bearing is falling apart?

Remove cover and check it out, or have it checked.

Rearend hasn't been howling or grinding?

I had two big *** pieces of ring teeth fall out . Is that bad Maybe that's what the thump-thump noise is when I'm slowing down.
