clutch problems

probably a hundred miles ago, my clutch pedal randomly stuck to the floor after being parked for a few hours. now it does it all the time. if i hold in the clutch, it will slip and end up fully engaged in about 20 seconds. i know im not losing fluid, so i think i can safely assume my slave cylinder is doing ok. so my master has to be leaking. the fluid also looks disgusting. i keep changing the fluid in the reservoir, but its taking a long time to clean the entire system. so my current plan is to try to get to the slave bleed valve and swap out all the fluid, if i cant get to it, ill just disconnect the clutch line from the transmission and change out everything above that. if that doesnt fix the issue, i guess ill get a new master cylinder.

any thoughts or suggestions?

Re: clutch problems

is it sticking to the floor, and not letting you disengage the clutch? by the way, i gave up on thinking the fluid is the problem. bought a new master cylinder and will install it today. also, there is a temporary fix that can keep you from getting stranded. let the clutch pedal come all the way up, then press down just until it starts engaging the clutch. let go, and repeat several times, each time, it should engage just a little bit higher. dont know if it really counts as a fix, but itll get you home
