i found a custom made 3" y pipe that has carsound cats and a flowmaster scavenger y collector, the guy said they fit jet hot longtubes and hooker longtubes, do you guys think i should get this custom y pipe since its much less than 400+ for the catted jet hot y pipe?

Yes.

Modern cats don't hurt power nearly as much as their predecessors, and aftermarket ones should be a little better.
If you can do a custom job cheaper, go for it.

I'm having a custom made y-pipe fabricated with a Flowmaster y-collector and Magnaflow high flow cats (which I think are the same as the carsound cats) to fit Pacesetter longtubes. Should be pretty sweet.

What about catco cats? You can get a 3 inch in/out for like 46 bucks or something at summit racing.

Carsound/Magnaflow cats are one of the best flowing aftermarket cats that you can buy..

I'm gonna be running two in my new true dual setup..

loved mine, very free-flowing and about half the weight of the stock convertor. I'm glad I had them on my car, plus i didn't notice any difference in power over not having them on my duals

I don't think they are much louder. Even without cats the exhaust doesn't get that much louder. When I had my longtubes no cats and cherry bomb straight through mufflers it wasn't even all that loud until i got on it. The neihbor said thats it! That won't even wake me up! You might notice the difference but you won't think its dramatic
