A/C Died for No Reason

My A/C has always worked well, topped off my refridgerant last summer.

Got caught in the pouring rain the other day and when i needed to de-fog my windshield, no A/C..

All fuses are good and swapping the relay doesnt do anything. The fan blows strong but the compressor never "clicks" on

any suggestions??

Put a gauge on it and check the freon psi. It may just be low and that will prevent the compressor from engaging.

This is what happened to mine this summer. Was working but just didn't seem like it was that cold at times, then one day the compressor stopped coming on. Took it to my friend's shop and it had a bit over 1/4 (R134) of what it was supposed to have in it. Once it was filled back up and reset, it has worked most awesome since.

nice. i like to hear that it seams like an easy fix. easy fixes are rare on the lt1.

outsiderIROCZ- but what do you mean by "reset"

The equivilent of wiping the trouble codes from the system I think. Even after recharging the system it didn't work until unhooking the battery and hooking it back up again. I was not sure how to word all of that when I wrote my first response.

I concur 100% about easy fixes being rare on the LT1...

To bring this back from the dead........

Now it's getting in the 90s outside and still no AC. Got a recharge kit with gauge and it took a little, but not a lot of refrigerant.

unhooked and reconnected battery.
all fuses and relay are good.

Jumped connections b1 and b4 on the A/C relay port. To get the compressor running. Then to my surprise the compressor still turns on after i put the relay back in. Maybe bad connection? I also cleaned the pressure switch during this time.

Now the compressor kicks on like it should but im getting a loud hiss coming from behind the radio when the A/C is clicked on, but no cold air. just a SES light now.

Any Ideas?

edit: after an entire 20$ can of refrigerant I finally felt some cold air blowing but the gauge is still reading "low"

Seems like I might have and leak.
