Bung for trans temp sensor

So I need to weld a bung on to my transmission pan for my temp sensor. The pan is a Derale, zinc coated steel. I know very little about welding, what can I use for a bung? Or can I just weld a nut onto the pan?

if its only zinc coated, you should be able to grind off the zinc in a spot, then weld the nut there. just make sure you protect it from rust afterward
