Advice for buying 1994 Z28?

Been looking for a fourth gen for some time now, and think I may have found a good one, but want to be smart. It's a black Z28 for sale at a local dealer with 100k on the odo. Carfax is clean seems to be one owner), clutch feels good, engine runs smooth, no apparent mods. Tires are almost bald though, and it is a Michigan car, which has me worried about rust.

What issues should I look for when I go for a test drive? Are there any particularly rust-prone areas? Any ideas on what wouldnbe a fair price? They're asking $6000, which seems about $2000 high to me.

Cool

The reason why they are asking that much is because you are buying it from a dealer. I purchased my 95Z, M6 with 86k from the original owner for 4800. The car was owned by a Dr. in Tuscon, you know he maintained it well and I have invoices of work he did through the years on it. If you can pay cash, you can find alot better deal online, cars.com, craigslist, autotrader.

I got a 94 z28 almost a year ago and the only thing that has really given me truoble is the A/C and the fuel pump. And since the fuel pump was in the gas tank it cost a bunch to replace. But other than that id deffinitely get it if I were you, Got mine for $4500 w/ 80,000 miles, so 4k for the one your talking about should be good. jus my 2 cents.

Unhappy

Well, forget that one. The powertain was indeed strong, but the chassis was sloppy as all hell -- lots of wandering, lots of flex. That didn't bother me terribly, as I plan on replacing/upgrading the suspension in whatever I buy. Alas, a check under the car revealed there was more at fault than a few worn bushings. RUST. It was especially bad under the passenger seat -- when I stuck my finger in it, it started flaking to the ground.
