Re: 99-04 stang GT vs. LT1

My car is not stk. take a look at my sig and you'll see the mods done and it'll tell you the year of my car also.

When you dyno, you strap down the car on the rollers, make sure it's warmed up and the tech guy (usually he runs the car, some places have you drive but I prefer the test guy do it).

He/She gets the car running in high gear (4th on a stick car, 3rd on an auto) probably around 2000rpm and punches it, they usually have a good idea when to let off (generally for our cars 5500-6000rpm or so) and let it coast down to idling speed.

They may do 2 back to back runs, then a cool down period then one or two final pulls and that usually takes up about an hour (which is what you usually pay for to dyno, X amount of dollars per hour).

I never dynoed my car when it was stk so I did it after I did all my mods, here's the page from the second dyno session done a year after I finished my mods. The first dyno session page is somewhere around my home at the time didn't know how to put it on the net that's the one that gave me 305RWHP and 320RWTQ. This one is 300RWHP and 318RWTQ that was also a super humid day and a different dyno so the small differences in the #'s is hardly worth worrying about. Hope this helps.

Just being politically correct, I'm sure there are ladies that dyno cars although I have not come across any.

Hey they like cars too and some of them drive better than even some guys I know.

I raced a 99-04 GT 5-speed not long after I got my car......it was a pretty good race but I had a nose on him the entire time.

Re: 99-04 stang GT vs. LT1

Should be a really close race between the two cars. An LT1 fbody makes more power, but a 99-04 SN95 Stang is almost 200lbs lighter. I would give the edge to the LT1, but seeing how old some of them are getting some of them may be in less the ideal operating conditon.

For the most accurate results, the car is not put in high gear (would probably considered 5th on the t56 since 6th is too overdriven for speed use, and 4th on the 4L60-e), it is run in the tranny's 1:1 direct drive gear, or in the case of a transaxle the gear with the closest direct drive ratio.

I thought the SN95 Stangs and the 99-04's were two different body styles?

a stock GT should be no contest for you. If so, time for a tune up.

I outran a 99+ convertible GT on the interstate with my 94 mark VIII. I doubt that a 93+ F-body would have much trouble with one.

No, the SN95 codename refers to all 94-04 cars, although the 99-04 body styles were different.

4th on a t56 is 1:1 and 3rd on a 4l60e is 1:1

Reading comprehension!

EDIT : This post is not one of my prouder moments

Pretty funny you mention reading comprehension, because maybe you should practice some. Read my post. He said the tranny is put in high gear to dyno. That is not correct. It is put in direct drive.

Way to look dumb though.

Yeah, Yeah you're right it's direct drive not high gear. At least I got the proper gears correct for dynoing.

I've been working some late shifts lately so, CUT ME SOME FRIGGIN' SLACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
