97 Camaro exhaust system help please.
I have been working on my car for a week now.
I can not get the pasanger side cat down.
On the exhaust manifold I have broken the stud near the starter.
But I can't get the one by the heat shield by the AC.
I have tried a Flared Crowfoot.
I get a good clear shot at it and it just slips off.
I used a deep socket with a impact joint and it just pop's off.
I have a bad cat and it needs to come off.
One week I have beed trying to get one nut off.
I think thats one day too much.
I would cut the hold dam stud off and replace the manifold.
Looks like getting the exhaust manifold would be easy.
Then I would just bolt it up with 2 nuts.
I have my old LT1 so I have the manifolds.
But god help me if the bolt's snap off in the head.
I might try to find a shorter deep socket.
The socket I am using now is 2 1/2 inches long.
Can any body help me?
Thanks.
Chris G.

Re: 97 Camaro exhaust system help please.
That sucks man, I feel your pain. I used a universal joint and various length sockets & extensions to get at all the bolts/nuts on the exhaust manifolds and y-pipe. Had to really mess with the various combinations to get at some of the bolts. Also, make sure you soak all bolts/nuts with some penetrating oil.

If you do break the stud off I think you can just knock it out and use a nut and bolt.
