96 Z28 engine mounts
this does not look like a fun project. im starting with the drivers side. it looks like i have to unbolt the half of the mount that is attached to the block. in order to do this it looks like i have to remove the bolts. one of the bolts is behind the cat so it looks like that 1/2 of the Y pipe has to come off. i tried removing those bolts and the first bolt i tried to remove snapped right off. i stopped as i am still driving the car, if i am going to remove all 3 im going to have to probably drill them out, i need some longer drill bits. towards the front of the car there is the rubix cub of have two bolts in such close proximity they block each other from removal. there is some advice, a guide, or a video of someone who has done this job. its a 1996 Z28 and has the LT1 engine.

Re: 96 Z28 engine mounts
I can give you a link to the 96 factory manual, but it doesn't really help. It does have a caution about not supporting the engine by the oil pan, because it could easily push the pan up against the oil pickup.
I helped a buddy with a 94 but is wouldn't have the driver's side cat, and he had installed long tube headers. The only thing I remember is the through bolts that connect the bracket to the mount. They are blocked by the steering linkage, requiring that the steering be turned to full lock on each side to provide clearance.
Here's the diagram out of the factory manual.... doesn't help much, but that is about all that is in there:
