94 z28 shift button sticking down
I seem to be having a problem with my 94 z28 with an auto tranny. Today I drove the car for the first time in almost two months. It started up just fine but when I went to shift it into gear the selector flew past OD all the way to first. Normally it would catch in OD and you'd have to repress the button to switch it to lower gears. I didn't really think anything about this until I went to park the car and the key wouldn't turn all the way to the off position and was stuck in the cylinder. After the car was shut off, I played with the shifter a little bit and it will move through all the gears without having to engage the button at all. I'm thinking whatever actuates the button is stuck but before I start tearing things apart and spraying lube at anything that looks like it moves I thought I'd check on here for a little advice. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

I've never heard of this before but you can remove the gear shift panel and take a look inside to see if everything is still connected.First put the key in the ignition one or two turns so as to have free movement back to park. The panel pops up from the back then slides back toward the seat.Lift it up and have look.Hope this helps.Shoebox has a great website but I dunno if he covers this or not.Happy Thanksgiving.
