94 speedometer inop

94 V 6 after repair of front damage including air bag replacment speedometer and cruise control do not work. no check engine light on. everthing working prior to accident. all guages still working. when key turned on speedometer does come off peg. did not find any loose wires under dash. Any ideas on how and where to troubleshoot problem? Could it be related to repair or just a failure?
Thanks

Re: 94 speedometer inop

Got some ideas, but w/o a DTC nothing makes sense. If VSS to PCM circuit was open you would get a DTC, if PCM to speedometer was open circuit then you would get a different DTC. Circuit is an analog sine wave from the VSS to PCM then the PCM puts out a digital signal to the speedometer and cruise control. Any open or short will cause a DTC. Voltage and grounds to dash and cruise are different sources. If you had a scanner with speed info you could verify VSS to PC is OK or not that would isolate the problem a little. If it worked before the accident and does not work now take it back, insurance should cover total repairs, or the shop, if it left some connection incorrect.
