The 96 lt1 has a diffrent style opti on it, it's vented. An it's also obd11. You can change it of by keepin you 93 computer in it. Take your knock sencor off your 93 ly1 an put it on the 96 motor an you should be fine. Also you will to run a vent line of your elbow straight to your opti.

Yes sir, you will just have to run the vent tube. You van prolly check on here for some pics of the ways it's run, or I can post some pics. I think there is also a vent tube coming off the opti that goes to the evap silionoid or switch, off the top of my jea I don't remember which one. It on your passengerside valve cover.

The 96 (vented) Opti has a different harness connector than your 93's (unvented) Opti. You need to buy a 95-97 harness extension (runs from the gray connector on the bracket on the passenger side of the intake manifold to the Opti).

The Optis really aren't OBD-I (unvented) and OBD-II (vented). The unvented Opti was used 93-94 (which are OBD-I) and the vented Opti was used 95 (OBD-I) and 96/97 (OBD-II).

There is no connection from the Opti to the EVAP system or any solenoid/switch. Vent line runs from the intake elbow to the Opti. Vacuum line runs from the Opti to a vacuum nipple on the driver's side of the intake manifold.

Shoebox's site has photos of the Opti vent and vacuum connections, and the vent/vacuum harness:

The locations of the fuel connections is different on the 93 than on all other years. You might want to swap the intake manifold and fuel rails from your 93 to the 96 engine. You also want to use your 93 injectors (22 #/HR) rather than the 96's 24 #/HR.

You will have items on the 96 engine that to not have harness connections on your 93 harness - EVAP vacuum detector switch on the passenger side valve cover, and the crank position sensor on the bottom of the 96 timing cover. You don't need to use those devices.
