92 z28 - Door Locks Still Not Fully Working After NEW Actuator
Hi everyone, having a bit of a problem with my door locks. My locks for sometime have not been fully closing unless u hold down or tap the button a few times. After I got my car alarm and kelyess entry installed I would still have to lock my door manually because the door would not fully lock when I hit the switch.
So I went out and purchased 2 new door actuators...figured they were just old and weak. I just put one in on the drivers side of the door and well the same deal. I hit the switch - actuator goes up and down but the door lock just doesn't open up. Its close but not close enough.
Anyone know what the heck is going on? I lubricated all the joints with white lithuim grease but still nada.

I have the same problem with my 88 firebird.
When I had a glass guy replace my window he told me that they get slop where they mount to the door.
Might want to check that out.

Well just got done. It seems to be working now I installed the new actuators and then got engine cleaner foam thingie and hit the joints and the whole door part with the springs etc. Cleaned the crap out of it and then hit it with water. After it was cleaned I took white lithuim greese the one in the tube and jammed its all over the place with my finger. Then i hit all the joint points and thats seems to have fixed things. I didnt need new actuators just a complete relubing/cleaning of the whole area. Seems to be locking and unlocking now oooo that feels so good
Also took the time to clean the windows rails and relube them with wheel bearing grease. Killed 2 birds with one stone.
thanks for the pointer Chris!

I have an '85 z28, no power locks I bought the driver door lock has always been messed up. So I replaces the lock cylinder, I am going to do them all. I see alot of "pressure" on the lock, which problaby helped cause the lock cylinder to rotate. I am going to go hit all of them.
I was thinking of cleaning everything up and putting white lithium in there as well.
figure I'd give the thread a bump as well.
