Is 8500 a good price for 00 SS

Hello all. I tried inserting a pic but couldn't figure it out. Anyway I am looking at buying a 2000 Camaro SS, Auto, T Top, Silver with 66,064 miles. It is a second owner and is in incredible condition. The current owner is a car collector and has so many restored old gems its crazy. I haven't ever touched he car as its on another island here in hawaii. It is so clean it looks like it did brand new. Is this a good price? Like I said the car is incredible inside and out and has been garage kept its entire life. I had a 97 Z28 so this will be my second 4th gen. Thanks in advance

Sounds like a decent deal. Check craigslist, kbb, etc to get a better idea of the market. I'm not in the market for a LS1 f-body (or any car really) though I do check ads from time to time and that seems pretty good. I think my buddy paid $10k for his '00 SS with ~79k miles a little over a year ago.

I'm assuming its a limited market on the islands. Sounds like a good deal to me. Too bad you get killed on shipping when it comes to put some mods on the car.

Re: Is 8500 a good price for 00 SS

So this is the first SS i have ever owned so I have a question about it. Are all SS cars SLP modified? Does this make it worth more if not all SS's were moded at SLP? I called SLP this morning and gave them the last 8 digits of my VIN and they told me the build# and the mods they did to the car. Just don't know much about the SS world. When I bought the car from the guy he had no idea what I was talking about when asked about the SLP mods. Other than the car is unbelieveably nice...did I get a bonus on this buy. Thanks

All 96-97 LT1 SS cars were modified by SLP in New Jersey. For the LS1 cars (98+), they were only modified by SLP if they had certain SLP options. The generic "SS Option" for LS1 cars was done at GM. The LT1 SS cars are much rarer than LS1 SS cars in terms of # produced per year, and IMO, uniqueness.

I know a guy who has a generic 2000 ss that was still sent to slp. My ss only had the floor mats and key fobs/dash plate added and it was still sent to slp. I don't think the factory did any ss item installs.

Re: Is 8500 a good price for 00 SS

Ok so after I called SLP and they informed me of the options which were added I have a few questions about them. The number of the car is #7925. Is that number out of all 00's modified. It has chrome wheels, exhaust, mats, key fob, dash plaque and the last two I don't really know about. It has lubes. Don't know what that is and base alterations? Any help would really be appreciated.

IIRC, floor mats were an SLP option, therefore it was sent to SLP. I may be wrong though as my LT1 SS knowledge is much more than my LS1 SS knowledge.

98+ Cars with no SLP options were not sent to SLP.

It is one of 8,913 SS's built in 2000.

You can break it down here:
https://www.camaroz28.com/2000-camar...ction-numbers/

As far as base SS alterations it's pretty generic: mainly just the hood, spoiler, wheels, and badges/plaques.

Just wondering if you could spell out IIRC. Not really sure what that means.
