4th Gen trans am parts into 3rd gen
Hey guys I'm new to this and need some help. I have had a 84 trans am shell in my yard for 7 years and just bought a running and driving 96 trans am with an Lt1 and t56. I picked up the rag top for 550$. It burns coolant and knocks. So I need a rebuild and honestly don't care for 4th gens. (Sorry) I've been doing some research and have only found a few answers. My question is do any of you know or have a link to where I can find a complete interchangeable parts list? I will upgrade a few parts here and there but am trying to cut most costs. I wonder which model has a better front end and if it's worth swapping the 4th Gen into the third.

Re: 4th Gen trans am parts into 3rd gen
Probably the best resource for retrofitting newer stuff into a third gen:
Hawks Motor Sports ? 1982-2002 Camaro and Firebird Specialists
If your LT1 is shot, maybe see if you can get a running LS-based 5.3 or 6.0 from a junkyard? These are often available for under $1000.
I'm not sure how directly replaceable it is, but it's likely that the fourth-gen has a quicker-ratio steering gear than your third gen. That might be a nice thing to bring over.

Re: 4th Gen trans am parts into 3rd gen
The rear supension is identical on 3rd and 4th Gens, except the 4th Gen 10-bolt rear axle assembly is 3" to 4" wider, requiring high (55mm) negative offset wheels. The front suspension is totally different. The 3rd Gen has a McPherson strut suspension, 4th Gen is unequal upper/lower A-arms with coil-over springs/shocks. I doubt you will find any thing that can be swapped, not even a random bolt.
